The police were notified of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of Park Avenue/PA Route 743 at 9:41 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 6, as detailed in the release.

Arriving officers "found the victim, lying along the edge of the roadway, having sustained severe injuries," as stated in the release.

The victim was taken to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with critical injuries, according to a police release just before noon on Monday, Oct. 7.

The road rage incident that proceeded the hit and run, escalated when the victim got out of their vehicle, according to the police investigation. That's when the driver of the suspect vehicle "intentionally steered towards and ran the victim over and then fled the scene," police said. The victim was also "dragged and ending up being thrown from the driver's side."

The striking vehicle was scene by witnesses and on camera fleeing at a high rate of speed going  south on Park Avenue and then turning left onto Chocolate Avenue/PA Route 422 heading east.

The vehicle is described as a silver or light gray late model Toyota Sequoia.

The Derry Township Police Department is asking the public for help identifying the driver of the Toyota Sequoia.

The vehicle should have damage to the front, especially the grille area. It may have driver's side damage as well.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the aggravated assault or the vehicle is asked to contact the police department at (717) 534-2202 and ask for an available officer. The Primary investigator is Detective Tom Pavone.
